La Fundación de Defensa del Consumidor de Sao Paulo impuso hoy una multa de 3,19 millones de reales (unos 1,77 millones de dólares) a la cadena de hamburgueserías McDonald’s por incluir juguetes en sus menús infantiles. El órgano consideró que entregar juguetes en el “happy meal” (cajita feliz) induce a formar hábitos alimentarios perjudiciales a la salud..La compañía estadounidense ha realizado desde entonces 18 campañas publicitarias dirigidas a niños en las que utilizaba el reclamo de juguetes para vender sus menús infantiles.

A Wilson Sucaticona no se le borra la sonrisa que le provocó el saber que, en las hectáreas de cultivos que posee en la selva de Puno, tiene el mejor café del mundo. Con esa sonrisa recibió el premio hace un año, con ella sigue cargando su café al hombro por cuatro horas para comercializarlo, con ella puede hablar de sus granos benditos tanto en una feria provincial como en la capitalina Mistura, donde estará hasta hoy.

Es un pintor ruso qué no conocia! Nacido en Moscú el 4 de diciembre de 1866, estudió pintura y dibujo en Odessa, y derecho y economía en la Universidad de Moscú. A partir de 1909, después de un viaje a París en el que quedó profundamente impresionado por las obras de los fauvistas y de los postimpresionistas, su pintura se hizo más colorista. Tiene una obra impresionante! Murió el 13 de diciembre de 1944 en Neuilly-sur-Seine, en las afueras de París.

Consejos para hacer una paella (part 1)

Advice to make a 'paella'.

Los ingredientes = the ingredients
500 gr de carne de pollo, (chicken), 
2 dientes de ajo, (garlic gloves)
200 gr de tomate triturado, (tomato puree)
350 gr de arroz, (rice)
una cebolla (an onion)
250 gr de calamares, (calamari) 
8 langostinos, (king prawns)
 250 gr de mejillones  (mussels), 
50 gr de guisantes, (peas)
azafrán (safran) y sal (and salt)
aceite de oliva....olive oil


Lavar el pollo y trocearlo. Wash the chicken and cut into cubes

Lavar los calamares y cortarlos en tiritas. Wash the calamari and cut in strips

Pelar las langostinos y cocer las cáscaras y las cabezas durante 10 minutos; peel the prawns and cook the shells and the heads for 10 minutes.

 Colar y reservar el caldo. Skim and keep the broth

Calentar el aceite en una paella y freír el pollo hasta que se dore; heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the chicken until it gets a nice golden brown, 

 agregar los calamares, add the calamari

 saltear un par de minutos, cook for two minutes

y añadir la cebolla, los guisantes.  and add the onion and the peas

Rehogar todo durante 15 minutos. Toss the whole lot during 15 minutes.

Incorporar el arroz, regar con el caldo caliente de las gambas , add the rice and pour the warm broth of the prawns.

The verb 'ser'

In Spanish there are two verbs that translate 'to be', ser and estar. Both are irregular verbs. Today we'll talk about 'ser'.You use the verb 'ser'  in enduring situations, while 'estar' is used in situations that are 'short-term' .
